About

Matt Bailey

On Board Since May 2005

OCSC: Why do you sail?

MB: The main reason I sail is so that I can experience what so few people ever get to and find alternative ways to travel the world.

OCSC: What do you enjoy about working at OCSC?

MB: Being able to sail as much as I want and when people ask me where I work, I like seeing their reaction. I have so much fun answering their questions about how I got here and how much I enjoy it.

OCSC: What's your sailing background?

MB: Basic Keelboat, Basic Cruising, Bareboat Cruising, Coastal Navigation, Coastal Passagemaking, Sailing in the Windward Islands, racing in the J/24 Fleet 17 regattas, Finn sailing.

OCSC: When you're not sailing, what can we find you doing?

MB: When not sailing, you can usually find me at home with my wife and dog Ali. My wife and I love to travel and have been to most of Europe, Asia and Caribbean. We like to frequent Italy and enjoy our vacations to the Disney Resorts.

OCSC:  What are your top five sailing books of all time?

MB: North U: Performance Trim and Tactics; Dave Perry's Racing Rules of Sailing; Latitude 38; Sailing World; Finnatics: The History and Techniques of Finn Sailing.
