About

Max Starnitzky

On Board Since 2001

OCSC: "Why do you sail?!"

MS: "I sail because I grew up sailing. I love it. There's nothing like an evening sail with the boys."

OCSC: "What do you enjoy about working at OCSC?"

MS: "I enjoy working at OCSC for a few reasons. First off, the sailing. Second, I have learned so much and acquired many skills working in fleet service. From laying fiberglass to diesel engine maintenance. Also, the friends I have made there are the greatest. A bunch of good people."

OCSC: "What's your sailing background?"

MS: "I've been sailing since I can remember with my Dad. He owned an Erickson 38 that we sailed to halfmoon bay, vallejo, Drake's and Bodega Bay. We've also chartered in the BVI four times, Sea of Cortez, St. Maarten, and the Bahamas. I've raced on Casual Contact(J/24), Energy and Bandwidth (J/105s). I also grew up racing lasers, el toros and FJ's at Encinal Yacht Club."

OCSC: "When you're not sailing, what can we find you doing?"

MS: "Going to school at The California Maritime Academy. I'm studying to be a merchant ship's officer. On the weekends I'm working at the point in OCSC Fleet Service."

OCSC:  "What are your top 5 sailing books of all time?"

MS: " Boatowner's Mechanical and Electrical Manual' by Nigel Carter. Also, 'Adrift' by Steven Callahahn"
