On Board Since August 2005 OCSC: Why do you sail? SA: There's just nothing else quite like it in the world. OCSC: What do you enjoy about working at OCSC? SA: OCSC is great bunch of folks to work with. Whether I'm learning the finer points of boat handling or something new about boat maintenance, there is always someone who is willing to share his or her knowledge and experience. OCSC: What's your sailing background? SA: I've had a fascination for boats and sailing ever since I was a little kid spending time on my grandpa's Catalina 27. Later, lacking both water & boat, I taught myself the basics of sailing by reading a book. I sailed sporadically over the years until I moved to Berkeley, where I sailed with the Cal Sailing Club before joining OCSC.. OCSC: When you're not sailing, what can we find you doing? SA: You might find me restoring my wooden boat, listening to music, or reading about something to do with architecture and design..
OCSC: What are your top five sailing books of all time? SA: Boatbuilding: A Complete Handbook of Wooden Boat Construction' by Howard Irving Chapelle 'H.M.S. Surprise' by Patrick O'Brian 'The Handbook of Sailing' by Bob Bond 'Two Years Before the Mast' by Richard Henry Dana Jr. |
