Chris Schaeffer Chris started sailing in The Netherlands with friends as a teenager. At university he cruised most of the Dutch waterways and later on extended his trips to the North Sea.Through his motto 'One should learn from mistakes and they do not have to be your own', he pursued more formal training in sailing, resulting in becoming an instructor on keelboats. Chris came to the Bay Area in October 2001 from The Netherlands to work in the semiconductor industry. He spotted the potential of the San Francisco Bay right away. His search of a school with high standards, both in sailing and in people, ended when he found OCSC. "When people ask me why I like sailing I find it hard to answer. I just get the intense feeling that it is the right thing for me to do. I also get great satisfaction from helping people improve themselves, and teaching sailing combines these passions into a great hobby," he says.
