On Board Since October 1994 OCSC: "Why do you sail?!" DM: "I have a love for the sea and a spirit of adventure. My favorite thing to do is explore new harbors. Sailing is to me being self reliant and to challenge my limit. There is nothing like being connected with the boat and sounds of the ocean with all the beautiful sunrises and sunsets. OCSC has an atmosphere that enables me to share my aptitude for sailing." OCSC: "What do you enjoy about working at OCSC?" DM: "I love to sail and live to sail and being at OCSC with people that feel the same way makes good energy." OCSC: "What's your sailing background?" DM: "In the beginning I was happy teaching myself to sail in a lake with my first boat. Then moved to the Delta onto a bigger boat but I still yearned for bigger water. I answered crew and racing crew wanted ads and started to acquire sea miles. I now live part-time on my boat in S.F. Bay. In 1998 I got my U.S.C.G. License and did my first delivery from Honolulu to S.F. I have sailed in many countries, Greece, Canada, Costa Rica, Mexico, Caribbean with about 47,000 miles but my favorite place to date is the San Blas Islands. In 2005 I entered the Transpac Race (Long Beach to Honolulu) and became the first womens double handed entry in the 100 year anniversary of the race." OCSC: "When you're not sailing, what can we find you doing?" DM: "Varnishing and restoring my 1979 S&S Swift 40 Ketch. When not on the water I work two or three days a week as a Dental Hygienist in Modesto, Ca." OCSC: "What are your top 5 sailing books of all time?" DM: " Taking on the World by Ellen MacArthur; Championship Sailing by Gary Jobson; North U Books, Sail Trim, Racing, and Weather; Alone Around the World by Naomi James; Knockdown by Martin Dugard"
