On Board Since February 1997
OCSC: "An easy one to start with: What's your name?"
MF: "Max Fancher"
OCSC: "Why do you sail?!"
MF: "I love the connection to nature and the fact that we're able to turn the engine off and harness the wind to get from one place to the other. I also love the fact that we live in such a populated area but when you get out on the Bay, you often have the whole place to yourself. The perspective of the Bay Area from the middle of San Francisco Bay is one that only few get to experience. I feel lucky."
OCSC: "What do you enjoy about working at OCSC?"
MF: "I love working here because I truly believe in what we're doing. The company has a soul and a culture that is generous, caring and supportive. I love my teammates and I enjoy the people i work with. We also have great people to serve and it seems that sailing attracts good people. The combination of great people to work with, clients who i enjoy, and a company that i believe in are the main reasons i love coming to work every day."
OCSC: "What's your sailing background?"
MF: "I grew up in Santa Cruz and learned to sail as a kid. We used to race Jester Dinghies inside the Santa Cruz harbor and after i got bit by the sailing bug, i got into bigger and bigger boats. Racing and competitive sailing came first but then later in life, i got into cruising and bareboat chartering. I've had the pleasure of sailing in Mexico, Greece, Turkey, Tonga, Tahiti, Belize, British Virgin Islands, and I won't stop there."
OCSC: "When you're not sailing, what can we find you doing?"
MF: "When i'm not sailing, you can find me working here at OCSC. When I'm not doing that, my hobbies are snowboarding, trail running, making videos and music."
