On Board Since March 2004 OCSC: Why do you sail? RE: I love the sea, like boats and enjoy the company of other sailors. OCSC: What do you enjoy about working at OCSC? RE: The comradery and talent of fellow instructors. OCSC: What's your sailing background? RE: Started during childhood in club boats (Laser, Lighting, and other 20/24 ft sloops). Moved up to ~35ft cruising boats (O'Day, Beneteau, Cal, Catalina, etc.) and charters of 40/50 ft yachts. Additionally from time to time some blue water passage making (up/down West coast from Alaska to Mexico, Tahiti, Caribean, and Mediterranean). Over 40 years of sailing and learning. OCSC: When you're not sailing, what can we find you doing? RE: At school studying (mainly history), at work (consultant), traveling, and spending time with the family (six grandchildren).
OCSC: What are your top five sailing books of all time? RE: Captain Scott by Panulph Fiennes; 1776 by David McCullough; John Paul Jones by Evan Thomas; and many others on seamanship and navigation.
