	Tracy Rogers On Board Since: March 2007 OCSC: Why do you sail? TR: Because being out on the water is so much fun! For me, racing (or teaching) is an excuse to go out sailing. The fact that conditions are different each time you go out (or changing while you're out), always keeps it challenging and there's always more to learn. It's one of the ultimate life-long sports. OCSC: What do you enjoy about working at OCSC? TR: I learn something new every day I come to work, either from the other staff or the students. There's such a wide range of sailing experiences to learn from. Seeing new sailors get excited about the sport always gets me jazzed to come back and do it again. OCSC: What's your sailing background? TR: I started sailing a Sailfish with my Dad on Long Island Sound when I was about six years old and I've been hooked ever since. For the past 30 years or so I've been mostly racing on boats from 23' to 56'. One of the many highlights was the 2006 Pacific Cup race from SF to Hawaii where we placed 3rd in our division and, more importantly, had a blast out on the Pacific Ocean! I can't wait to do it again. OCSC: When you're not sailing, what can we find you doing? TR: Spending time with my wife and kids. We're often up in the mountains pursuing one of our other passions: skiing. My other profession is managing a small non-profit family foundation - managing the endowment and making grants. OCSC: What are your top five sailing books of all time? TR: Chapman Piloting and Seamanship, The Proving Ground, Sailing World magazine, Latitude 38, and Sailing Anarchy ezine (okay, they're not all books!).
