Turn a regular weekend day into an experience you'll remember forever! Grab a cup of coffee and then head to OCSC for an early departure at 7am. You'll be met by the cheery crew aboard Seaward (a beautiful 82' classic schooner) with a continental breakfast to get you going. The waters will typically be at their calmest as we head out through the Gate towards the Farallon Islands (25 miles offshore) - time to look around Seaward and chat with her crew. We'll spend a few hours circling the islands, observing the wildlife and then enjoy a warm and filling lunch onboard. Clam chowder anyone? We turn home in the afternoon with the stiff westerly breeze on our backs as we sail again under the Golden Gate. It's easy to imagine that you're seeing the Bay for the first time... You'll be back at OCSC at around 7 pm. Participants: 20 passengers, four seaward crew. Cost: $245 Regular/ $183.75 OCSC member. Breakfast and lunch included. Cancellation policy: - If you need to cancel your reservation, you may do so without charge with more than 30 days notice in advance of your reservation date.
- If you cancel 30 days to 16 days in advance of your reservation, you will be assessed a 50 percent cancellation fee.
- If you cancel 15 days or less in advance of your reservation, you will be assessed a 100 percent fee.

During this two-day, one-night adventure, you'll work with your team to learn how to sail a traditional ship (Seaward, a beautiful 82' classic schooner) and take her on a voyage beyond the Golden Gate up to Drake's Bay. This is a rich, experiential learning opportunity for any San Francisco Bay sailor and a unique way to gain an appreciation of what Coast Passagemaking is like. Your sailing skills will grow, your confidence will build, and your teamwork and leadership abilities will flourish. For a whole weekend, you'll be dependent on weather, wind and tide instead of social pressures and electronic entertainment. Monday will be a little different the following week!
You'll depart from OCSC at 9 am on Saturday morning and then sail out to the Farallones before turning towards Drake's Bay. You'll anchor in the Bay for sunset sea stories (true or not) and a hearty meal together. Retreat to your private bunk under a full moon and doze peacefully amongst your fellow crewmates. Sunday morning dawns and a continental breakfast is ready for you - -gather your head because this morning you're in charge of navigating (with instruction and oversight!) back through the Golden Gate.
