OCSC: What sailing experience did you have before you came to OCSC?

SW: I'd sailed three times back East on someone else's boat -- essentially none!

OCSC: What do you like about sailing?

SW: I always love to be able to see the horizon, to see far ahead of me. To do that while I'm in motion -- well,  it's total freedom.

OCSC:  What brought you to OCSC?

SW:  I interviewed a number of sailing schools but had been specifically referred to OCSC. Everyone was also so friendly in the front office!

OCSC:  Why did you decide to become a member?

SW: I got hooked!  I could see I was going to take a lot of classes and membership was a great benefit. Now it's starting to feel like a home.

OCSC:  What sailing goals do you have?

SW: I always wanted to be a skipper but wasn't sure if I could do it! My goal was to get my Basic Cruising certification  to start with. Now I want to do CPM and go as far as I can. I also want to incorporate sailing into my work. It's part of my life now! It's been a mental challenge to get through barriers but is now a spring board for my career.

OCSC:  What do you do when you're not sailing?

SW:  I'm trying to inspire landlubbers to be healthy, to overcome limitations of age and reclaim their youth. I work full-time for Club One and am riding with their cycling team -- anywhere from 40 to 100 miles.
