OCSC's "Seamanship II" seminar/study hall

This is the second of a three-part seamanship series where you'll learn the rest of the important seamanship concepts needed for skippering a boat safely on San Francisco Bay. This course has the last of the answers the eternal question, "What now, skipper?"

Topics covered:

  • Skipper responsibilities
  • How to effectively lead harbor/marina procedures
  • Handling emergencies (vessel grounding, vessel taking on water, rigging or engine problems, steering problems, medical emergencies, other mariners in distress)
  • Anchors and anchorages
  • Introduction to Bay Area weather

Prerequisites:

Seamanship I or equivalent experience.

  • This seminar is free for students in OCSC classes as well as for members. Reservations are required, so call first to reserve your space.
