OCSC's "Seamanship III" seminar/study hall

Seamanship III is the third of a three-part seamanship series where you'll learn many advanced seamanship concepts needed for skippering in the popular charter destinations around the Bay, California and the world.

Topics covered:

  • Bareboat charter planning and provisioning
  • Setting your crew up for success (managing expectations, shipboard routine, anticipating problems)
  • Gracefully handling the eternal balance between the need for democracy and the need for leadership on board with friends
  • Advanced anchoring techniques
  • Do's and don'ts of chartering
  • Picking up and dropping moorings safely
  • Dinghy handling, boarding, and towing

Prerequisites:

Seamanship II or equivalent experience recommended.
