Seaward’s Adventure Voyages
Details: http://www.seawardadventures.org/index.php
Join us for a Baja adventure voyage!
Are you curious about the natural world? Do you have an adventurous spirit? Do you relish the idea of a hands-on sailing experience with fellow shipmates along the Pacific coast? Have you ever wanted to see first-hand the rich marine life that John Steinbeck described in The Log From the Sea of Cortés, or the rugged California coastline that Richard Henry Dana sailed in Two Years before the Mast?
Now you can, aboard the 82-foot, steel staysail schooner Seaward. Join us for your own adventure voyage as Seaward journeys south for the winter along the California and Baja coasts and into Mexico’s secret sea, the Sea of Cortés. You’ll explore pristine islands and shorelines, learn the ways of the sea from professional mariners, discover abundant marine life, dine on fresh, delicious meals, and enjoy the warm hospitality of the real Mexico -- far from the high-rises and bright lights.
Seward’s adventure voyages differ from other
cruising experiences in several important ways:
- Sailing with a small, compatible group (6-10 participants and four crew),allows you to get to know your shipmates and form lifelong friendships.
- Traveling to remote, pristine destinations means steering clear of the ‘tourist traps’ and crowded cities, and when you arrive as a single yacht, you’ll be able to experience the warm hospitality of the Mexican people.
- Living aboard a comfortable, safe, well-appointed schooner allows you to do things at your own pace -- taking the helm, handling sails, assisting in navigation, or just relaxing in a hammock on the spacious foredeck
- Voyaging by sail is the best -- some say the only -- way to see the wildlife of pristine places like the Channel Islands, Baja’s Pacific coast and the Sea of Cortés: gray whales, humpbacks, giant manta rays, hammerhead sharks, and one of the largest collections of migratory seabirds on the planet.
- Learning new skills, including celestial navigation, natural history, geology and traditional sailors’ arts -- all in an informal, supportive atmosphere where you can learn what you choose, at your own pace.
